Middle School Student Wins First Place in Pennsylvania at the National History Day Competition
Grade 8 student Roshni Thakkar won first place in the Junior Individual Website Category of the National History Day (NHD) Competition for Pennsylvania. Her project was called “Nelson Mandela: A Conflicting Journey to Justice.”
Grade 8 students have been engaging their hearts, minds, and hands in the service of a greater good during their year-long humanities work. On Monday, May 21, they presented their culminating capstone project – The Museum of Citizen Action – to the entire Sewickley Academy community.
SA Inducts Twelve New Members into the Cum Laude Society
On May 21, 2018, Sewickley Academy’s Senior School gathered in Rea Auditorium to honor the academic, athletic, and artistic achievements of students during the annual Awards Ceremony which included an induction presentation for the newest members of the Cum Laude Society.
It was a special night as we welcomed back our WPIAL and State Championship team from a year ago! A special pregame dinner and a pregame ceremony at center court brought back many wonderful memories. This year's team shook off a slow start prompted by Laurel's slowdown efforts in the first quarter to post a good victory over a good Laurel team.
All of the good play during practices and games is so important, but nothing beats seeing the alumni coming back and enjoying their time with our current players. We are also so luck to have our alumin families return and share fun times with our current families.
