Dear Prospective Families,

When engaging in the school search, I understand that cost is a significant factor, but the priority should be whether the school is the “right fit” for your child. I have seen first-hand the positive transformation of students whose families focused on the right fit, and my goal is to create those opportunities here at Sewickley Academy. What I know for sure is students thrive at institutions that meet their academic, social, and emotional needs, while fostering supportive expansion of their lived experiences.
Over the years, Sewickley Academy has done a lot of serious work to create an inclusive community, reflective of the backgrounds and lived experiences of all students and families, making sure that cost isn’t a barrier to access. For the year 2020-2021, the school awarded $2.5 million in financial aid to 24% of our families. These grant awards range from $2,000 to $29,950, supporting families with annual incomes ranging from less than $16,408 to $220,000+. To determine an approximate amount of financial aid your family could receive, please refer to our Financial Aid Calculator.
I realize that discussions about personal finances can be complicated and stressful. As you engage in the admissions process and have questions, please feel free to reach out to me. All of our conversations, as well as your personal information, will be kept confidential.

  • FAST Financial Aid Application Process

In order for us to allocate our resources wisely and fairly, we have enlisted the help of the Financial Aid for School Tuition (FAST) program by Independent School Management (ISM). ISM's FAST does not decide whether financial assistance will be given or how much to give. Rather, FAST provides a need-based financial aid analysis service. FAST provides the school with a report, which includes a recommendation of what a family should reasonably contribute toward tuition. All information from FAST is kept confidential.

Please note that Sewickley Academy is not able to meet the full amount of the recommended contribution for every family. FAST assumes each member school will recalculate aid awards based on the school's particular aid policies, and such re-calculation is a routine part of the financial aid process. Applications are reviewed by the Academy's Financial Aid Committee which makes determinations on the level of aid a family qualifies for. The Office of Admissions then notifies families of the Academy's financial aid offer.

In addition to completing the FAST application, families are required to submit copies of their 2019 Federal and State Tax Returns, all schedules, and W-2's directly to ISM at the address listed below.

Families can access the FAST application starting November 1, 2020.

Steps to Complete Financial Aid Application
    1. Visit the FAST website. The application process is self-guided. You may navigate in and out of the program which allows you to partially complete an application and go back to it at another time. A helpline is available 24 hours a day by calling 1-877-326-FAST. If you do have questions, please call the FAST hotline, as Sewickley Academy will not be able to answer questions regarding the FAST application.
    2. After completing the online application, you are required to upload a copy of your 2019 Federal and State Tax Returns, all schedules, and W-2's.
Please note that all financial aid requests, including financial information and award amounts, are kept completely confidential. Families are expected to keep the amount of their award confidential.
  • Deadline

To be included in the initial round of financial aid processing, the deadline for submitting the FAST application and mailing your tax information to FAST is February 3, 2021. After that date, financial aid will be awarded on a rolling basis. As always, our financial aid budget is fixed, so the sooner you apply, the better.
