The Panthers Win State Golf Title
Congratulations to Sewickley Academy's varsity golf team for winning the PIAA Class 2A Boys Golf Championship for the second time in three years.
The golf team captured the state title at Heritage Hills Golf Resort on Wednesday, October 23, by one stroke over Scranton Prep with a final score of 320. The six teams competing were within 17 strokes of each other in a closely contested tournament.
Trailing by 15 strokes midway through the tournament, the Panthers rallied with improved scoring over the stretch run. Senior JF Aber, one under par over his last eight holes, led in scoring with a 77. Junior Tim Fitzgerald was next with a round of 79. Freshman Joey Mucci scored an 81 with a two over par score for his final 10 holes. Junior Navin Rana was next with a score of 83 that included one over par in his final eight holes. Senior Zoe Luther concluded her career with a score of 84 that included three over par in her final holes.
