Interim Head of School Appoints Assistant Head of School

On July 22, 2021, Interim Head of School for Sewickley Academy Dr. Ashley (Brown ’00) Birtwell appointed Ken Goleski as Assistant Head of School.
In a statement sent to the school community, Dr. Birtwell said, “It is my absolute pleasure to announce that Ken Goleski, a long-time respected member of the Sewickley Academy community, has accepted our offer to join us as Assistant Head of School.”

Ken has had a successful career with Sewickley Academy, serving in many different roles. He was Acting Head of the Senior School, Dean of the Senior School, and a gifted and award-winning teacher of Spanish language and culture. He is a graduate of St. Lawrence University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish Language, and Robert Morris University, where he earned a Master of Science degree in Instructional Leadership.

“Ken’s deep institutional knowledge of the Academy will be put to work immediately as he will be overseeing and enhancing our curriculum across the Lower, Middle, and Senior Schools,” Dr. Birtwell said. “Ken’s mission is simple: to make Sewickley Academy a top-tier college preparatory school that helps all the children entrusted to us find their best individual paths and to achieve their maximum potential.”

Mr. Goleski is excited to start his new role at the Academy. “I believe that at its core, Sewickley Academy remains a community of learners that appreciates the learning process and bravely looks for innovative and diverse answers to the difficult questions we examine in the classroom,” he said in a letter to the community. “I am eager to begin collaborating with Dr. Birtwell as she leads the Sewickley Academy community through this transition and toward a bright future.”
