Coach's Comments
Despite the rainy, muddy conditions our guys kept grinding all day to capture the WPIAL Championship at Cedarbrook Gold with a score of 409, defeating North Catholic and Elizabeth Forward by 17 strokes. After the top 2 players from North Catholic had registered scores of 72 and 74, we were 20 strokes behind with our 82 and 84. Once again, our depth was the difference as we were able to find a way.
On a day when hitting the fairways was paramount, once again we showed we could play in any kind of weather condition. Senior Matthew Klemash bettered his score from a year ago by 7 seven strokes. Sophomore Navin Rana, who was playing on the JV golf team a year ago, shot a smooth 81. Senior Landen Shirley, playing in the sixth spot, shot the team low round 76 to move a close match to a strong victory!
Today's Championship speaks to the efforts of all nine players since the end of the last golf season. They have all put in so much time and effort; this group truly deserves to be called WPIAL Champions!!!
