Middle School Student Wins First Place in Pennsylvania at the National History Day Competition
Grade 8 student Roshni Thakkar won first place in the Junior Individual Website Category of the National History Day (NHD) Competition for Pennsylvania. Her project was called “Nelson Mandela: A Conflicting Journey to Justice.”
Grade 8 students have been engaging their hearts, minds, and hands in the service of a greater good during their year-long humanities work. On Monday, May 21, they presented their culminating capstone project – The Museum of Citizen Action – to the entire Sewickley Academy community.
SA Inducts Twelve New Members into the Cum Laude Society
On May 21, 2018, Sewickley Academy’s Senior School gathered in Rea Auditorium to honor the academic, athletic, and artistic achievements of students during the annual Awards Ceremony which included an induction presentation for the newest members of the Cum Laude Society.

On Saturday, December 9, Sewickley Academy hosted its Sixth Annual Robotics Tournament in the Events Center and Means Alumni Gym.
Over 50 teams from Western Pennsylvania were in attendance, competing in two different divisions. Sewickley Academy’s two Middle School teams placed 3rd and 8th overall in their division. They were able to improve their score and successfully complete more missions by the end of the competition. The Robopanthers look forward to the regional Grand Championship Tournament in early January, where close to 90 teams will compete.
