Coach's Comments
We overcame so much adversity tonight to win a double overtime thriller! We missed Declan tonight who was battling illness, but freshman Isaiah Smith rose to the occasion with a double double with 20 points on 5 of 6 shooting from the 3 pt line and 10 rebounds. We trailed 30 - 11 in the first half as OLSH shot beautifully, but we never panicked and chipped away at the lead as all of our players on the floor and on the bench believed!
Sophomore Nate Ridgeway led us with 27 points despite taking only 8 shots from the field to go with his double double with 13 rebounds. Justin Pryor rallied from a tough start to finish with 20 points including two crucial free throws in the second overtime that cemented the victory. Chris Groetsch had an off shooting night but it didn't affect his hustle with 7 rebounds and 3 steals. Isiah Warfield battled all night, taking charges and garnering 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Teddy McClain was fiery off the bench with 6 rebounds. Finally, Dave Groetsch was a calming influence that was a necessity without Declan as he made all the correct "little" decisions that so helped his teammates.
