The Power of One Campus: SA Technology Students Bridge the Gap Between the Lower and Senior Schools
A conversation between Lower School Technology Coordinator Ms. Julia Tebbets and Senior School Technology Coordinator Mrs. Cristy McCloskey sparked a collaboration which benefited students in two of the Academy’s divisions.
Juniors Natalia Arbelaez Solano and Will Sands are participating in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) Western Region Orchestra Festival this weekend. The PMEA festival includes schools from State College and the western part of the state.
On February 25, five members of the Sewickley Academy Speech and Debate team – sophomores James Grosz and Saarang Mulukutla, seniors Katie Malus and Priya Rajawat, and freshman Luke Tyson – competed against 17 schools from District 2 in the qualifying tournament of the Pennsylvania High School Speech League at Pine Richland High School.
The 1990s were years of strategic planning, campus expansion and increased diversity. The Academy began to shift from a community school built on strong traditions and a proud history to what many considered the "school of choice" in the greater Pittsburgh area. To accommodate for growth in the student population, Headmaster Ham Clark and the Board of Trustees implemented a new Master Plan for campus expansion that included many new academic spaces on campus.
