Field Hockey Concludes Season

Last Tuesday SAFH gave it their all in the WPIAL semifinals. The Panthers put together a strong first half, showing improvement from regular season play against a talented SSA team. However, it was the second half though where things really came together for Panther FH. The defense held SSA scoreless throughout the entire second half with strong defensive clears from Sophie Fruehauf and Sarah Brown. Sophomore Betsy Watters also contributed big in several takeaways on defense to prevent shots by SSA players. This superior defensive play culminated into a second-half shutout performance by senior goalkeeper, Sarah Phillips. The second half also saw many chances to score with a few breakaway plays by Desi Nance and Ellie Zack's dynamic play. Midfield worked hard to slow SSA's fast transition and big hits taking away the middle of field with big sweeps from Clare Chiusano and a big drives from Maggie Goebel. Overall, this performance represented the growth of individual players and the FH program in skill, determination, and mental toughness.

Go Panthers!
