1838: First Sewickley Academy Opens
John D. Champ and William M. Nevin, part of a group that formed a Presbyterian Church in the “Sewickley Bottoms” in 1838, opened the first Sewickley Academy, “Nevin and Champ’s Classical and Commercial School for Boys.”
