While the taste of victory lingers, it is the knowledge of success that is lasting. The greatest basketball coach of them all, John Wooden, defines success "as peace of mind which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you did your best to become the best that you are capable of becoming."
Basketball is a fast-paced sport that requires mental aptitude, athletic ability, and the heart and soul of the competitor. Individual skills are developed in the off season. Players continue to develop their talents in the winter months, while they learn to surrender their self-interests for the greater good so that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
SA practices are intense and competitive. Our players learn to be risk takers. Although individuals may vie for the same positions, they assist each other in their development through hard work and good camaraderie. Games are our student-athletes' opportunity to demonstrate their individual and collective strengths.
