Parent conferences are held twice each year. The first conference is on the opening day of school each September and involves each student, his/her parents, and the advisor. It is designed as a goal-setting meeting and provides the groundwork for communication throughout the year. The second conference is held midway through the school year. This conference is led by students who present a portfolio of their work to date and then set goals for the next trimester.
The Middle School believes strongly in the concept of student-led conferences because they encourage students to take responsibility and pride in their own work as they highlight the progression of skills and competencies to date.
Report cards are issued four times a year, with interim reports at the midpoint of each quarter for those students who are earning a C- or below. Comments are written three times a year.
Parents can access their students' assignments on the Parent Portal. They are also welcome to contact a teacher at any time for individual feedback.
