  • Varsity Girls Lacrosse

With a history that spans centuries, lacrosse is the oldest sport in North America. The sport is rooted in Native American religion, and was often played to solve conflicts, heal the sick, develop strong men, and prepare for war. Lacrosse is a unique combination of speed, skill, agility, grace, endurance, finesse and historical significance. It has been known to be the fastest sport on two feet. Currently, lacrosse is the fastest growing sport in the United States.

Girl's Lacrosse was first introduced to the Western Pennsylvania area at Sewickley Academy. We have been members of the MSLA (Midwest Schoolgirls Lacrosse Association), WPSLA (Western Pennsylvania Scholastic Lacrosse Association, and WPIAL (Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League). Sewickley Academy has a strong tradition in Girls Lacrosse. The girls team won 4 MSLA titles (1999-2002), 5 WPIAL Section Championships (2004,2005, 2006, 2007, 2009, and 2010) and has been finalists in the WPIAL, 2004 and 2011.

The philosophy of the program is to become the best student athlete possible, focusing on their strengths, realizing their areas of improvement, and willing to give their best effort at all times.
