Coach's Comments
On Friday the Panthers continued their section play with Rochester. Sewickley Academy struck early and often going up 7-0 after 3 innings. The Panthers had seven hits in those first three innings with John DelVecchio scoring after a leadoff triple and single in the second. In the third Karlik, Ragoowansi and Zeleznik all scored. Pitching though struggled in the fourth giving up eight runs on only four hits but Sewickley Academy answered back by Dimitri Gary leading off with a single and scoring and after four innings we were all tied up at eight. The Panthers then scored four runs to tie it back up in the fifth after Rochester started the inning of with four runs on only one hit. It was the sixth inning though that Sewickley Academy could not come back, after giving up an unearned run, allowing three guys on base without even a hit. In the bottom of the seventh, Ragoowansi had a chance to tie it up with bases loaded but grounded out to the pitcher. Sewickley Academy fell to 0-2 in the section and overall for the year.
Every starter for the Panthers had a hit, as DelVecchio went 2/3 with a triple, 3 runs and 2 RBIs, Gary was 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs, White was 3 for 5 and Karlik was 2 for 4. Bordeau, Ragoowansi and Duggan all had their first career hits for Sewickley Academy.
