Coach's Comments
In another outstanding, intense high school basketball game, our guys came ready to play and opened up an early margin that we were able to maintain throughout the game. Junior Nate Ridgeway led us with 18 points, highlighted by two dunks and was one of five players who hit three pointers as we had a healthy combination of inside and outside play. Sophomore Isaiah Smith scored 16 points and led us with 3 steals. Senior Dave Groetsch had 12 points and was second on the team with 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Sophomore Isiah Warfield scored 9 second half points to register 10 for the game and had a double double with 11 rebounds and led us also in assists with 5. Sophomore Jett Roesing scored five points down the stretch to help clinch the victory. Senior Will Nocito continued his fine play off the bench with a three pointer and a number of rebounds.
This is the third straight year we have seen Jeannette in the playoffs, and it has built into a healthy rivalry. Their kids play hard, are well coached and their combination of athleticism and coachability helped lead them to a state football championship this year. Our guys have great respect for them, and it was a clean game with good sportsmanship on both sides.
