WPIAL Champions!!! Gentlemen you deserve this championship because of your willingness to prepare, to execute, to handle the ups and downs of a championship game between two excellent teams, and your focus at the end to close out the game!
This was a great high school game which would not be possible without a quality opponent in OLSH. Both teams made plays, went on runs and showed great composure in a big time atmosphere. We had two players with double doubles: Nate Ridgeway had 17 points and 10 rebounds, Isiah Warfield had 16 points and 10 rebounds. One of our newspapers chose Nate as player of the game, and it is difficult to argue with that selection.
Isaiah Smith led us with 4 steals and 14 points, and played great defense all night. Dave Groetsch scored 11 points, 5 rebounds and no turnovers despite serving as a ballhandler much of the night. Jett Roesing found the opportune time to hit a three pointer in the fourth quarter and then a few plays later fed Nate for an important bucket. His hustle play in the second half somehow turned a sure OLSH fastbreak opportunity into two SA points.
Isiah led us with 4 charges taken while Will Nocito took one charge to go with his four rebounds.
At the end of the game our guys made 7 straight free throws in pressure situations to ice the game. Isiah, Isaiah, and Dave were clutch at the foul line that sealed the victory!!!
