Senior Alina Mattson Reflects on her Second Trip to Haiti
I had an opportunity to travel to Haiti with an organization called Work my junior year at Sewickley Academy. What struck me about this organization was their integration into the communities and their promise to make families self-sufficient instead of offering outside solutions that would fix their problems short term. They do this by making sure both parents are in stable jobs and their children are placed in school. While in Haiti, we got to see first hand how Work functions and what they strive to achieve.

Our energy focused on the "team" continues to grow and develop making this a fun to watch as we progress. Tonight we jumped on Laurel with superb, disciplined defense which led to easy scores. We led 24 - 4 at the end of the first quarter, limiting the effectiveness of the large, boisterous Laurel home crowd. We scored 82 points by the end of the third quarter. Isiah established a new season high in rebounds with 16 to go with his 16 points. Jett and Isaiah led us in scoring with 21 points a piece and Dave scored 16 points. Nate registered 10 rebounds. Isiah led us with 6 assists and Isaiah had 5 assists.
Congratulations to George and JF for scoring their first varsity points as they were called up this month!
