Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a joyous time to remember those who have passed away. In Mexico, ancient Aztec traditions were combined with Christianity during the Spanish conquest. As a result, each year families construct colorful altars or ofrendas in their homes that essentially welcome the spirit of their loved ones on November 1st and 2nd.

On Saturday, December 9, Sewickley Academy hosted its Sixth Annual Robotics Tournament in the Events Center and Means Alumni Gym.
Over 50 teams from Western Pennsylvania were in attendance, competing in two different divisions. Sewickley Academy’s two Middle School teams placed 3rd and 8th overall in their division. They were able to improve their score and successfully complete more missions by the end of the competition. The Robopanthers look forward to the regional Grand Championship Tournament in early January, where close to 90 teams will compete.
