Middle School Student Wins First Place in Pennsylvania at the National History Day Competition
Grade 8 student Roshni Thakkar won first place in the Junior Individual Website Category of the National History Day (NHD) Competition for Pennsylvania. Her project was called “Nelson Mandela: A Conflicting Journey to Justice.”
Grade 8 students have been engaging their hearts, minds, and hands in the service of a greater good during their year-long humanities work. On Monday, May 21, they presented their culminating capstone project – The Museum of Citizen Action – to the entire Sewickley Academy community.
SA Inducts Twelve New Members into the Cum Laude Society
On May 21, 2018, Sewickley Academy’s Senior School gathered in Rea Auditorium to honor the academic, athletic, and artistic achievements of students during the annual Awards Ceremony which included an induction presentation for the newest members of the Cum Laude Society.
In a matchup between last year's AAA and AA WPIAL Champions, the Panthers played outstanding defense to defeat their old section rival 70 - 42. For the second straight game all five starters registered double figures as Isaiah Smith led us with 19 points, Jett Roessing with 18 points, along with Dave Groetsch, Isiah Warfield and Nate Ridgeway. Four players led the team with 7 rebounds in Nate, Isiah, Dave and Isaiah. All five starters had between two and four steals. Isaiah and Isiah led the team in assists. Isiah and Nate led the team in blocked shots. Will, Jared and Donald continue to help us off the bench.
