Senior School History Teacher Travels to South Korea for Professional Development
This past July, I traveled to South Korea with a group of American educators with the generous support of the Korean War Legacy Foundation and Sewickley Academy. This professional development connected me to my curriculum and past enrichment, which continually puts me in the learning seat, prepares me to contextualize historical events for students, and sets me up to share global perspectives.
We jumped out to a terrific start, outscoring West A 24 - 3 in the first quarter in route to a 36 point halftime lead. Despite the starters playing an average of 2 1/2 quarters a piece, all five starters scored in double figures as we shared the ball nicely. Sr Dave Groetsch led in scoring with 18 points on a 7 for 9 shooting performance, soph Isiah Warfield had a double double with 15 points and 11 rebounds, sophomore Jett Roessing had 6 rebounds to go with his 14 points, junior Nate Ridgeway had several blocks to go with his 11 points, and sophomore Isaiah Smith had 10 points along with his outstanding pressure defense. The 7 players off the bench earned plenty of playing time and their hustle and teamwork was fun to watch.
