Middle School Student Wins First Place in Pennsylvania at the National History Day Competition
Grade 8 student Roshni Thakkar won first place in the Junior Individual Website Category of the National History Day (NHD) Competition for Pennsylvania. Her project was called “Nelson Mandela: A Conflicting Journey to Justice.”
Grade 8 students have been engaging their hearts, minds, and hands in the service of a greater good during their year-long humanities work. On Monday, May 21, they presented their culminating capstone project – The Museum of Citizen Action – to the entire Sewickley Academy community.
SA Inducts Twelve New Members into the Cum Laude Society
On May 21, 2018, Sewickley Academy’s Senior School gathered in Rea Auditorium to honor the academic, athletic, and artistic achievements of students during the annual Awards Ceremony which included an induction presentation for the newest members of the Cum Laude Society.
On another beautiful day in Western PA pitted two section foes Quigley Catholic and Sewickley Academy. Sewickley got on the scoreboard first from a corner kick as Hussein Haji scored off a header assisted by Alex Gordon. However, with a minute left in the game, Quigley scored the tying goal and sent the game into overtime. The overtime saw Sewickley dominating the play but couldn't find the winning goal. Final score 1-1.
