Middle School Student Wins First Place in Pennsylvania at the National History Day Competition
Grade 8 student Roshni Thakkar won first place in the Junior Individual Website Category of the National History Day (NHD) Competition for Pennsylvania. Her project was called “Nelson Mandela: A Conflicting Journey to Justice.”
Grade 8 students have been engaging their hearts, minds, and hands in the service of a greater good during their year-long humanities work. On Monday, May 21, they presented their culminating capstone project – The Museum of Citizen Action – to the entire Sewickley Academy community.
SA Inducts Twelve New Members into the Cum Laude Society
On May 21, 2018, Sewickley Academy’s Senior School gathered in Rea Auditorium to honor the academic, athletic, and artistic achievements of students during the annual Awards Ceremony which included an induction presentation for the newest members of the Cum Laude Society.
Sewickley traveled last night to take on the first place Bulldogs. Sewickley dominated the play for the first ten minutes, however, we couldn't find the back of the net. Freedom got an opportunity and scored the first goal of the game. Within the next eight minutes, Freedom scored three more goals to take a 4-0 lead into half. The second hand saw the same as Freedom scored two more goals to take a six to zero lead. There was a bright spot for Sewickley as Alex Gordon beat three players to score a fantastic goal to put the Panthers on the scoreboard. However, Sewickley couldn't muster any more offense and lost 6-1.
