Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a joyous time to remember those who have passed away. In Mexico, ancient Aztec traditions were combined with Christianity during the Spanish conquest. As a result, each year families construct colorful altars or ofrendas in their homes that essentially welcome the spirit of their loved ones on November 1st and 2nd.
Sewickley Academy tied OLSH on Monday afternoon in a scoreless game through double overtime. The teams battled for much needed possession in a game where the ball traveled frequently from one back line to the other. In the opening minutes OLSH proved to be a fierce opponent by winning 50/50 balls and earning a few good scoring opportunities. However, after this sluggish first half and a much needed halftime pep talk, Sewickley retook the field with determination and grit in the second half. The tides had turned, but the ball still did not find the back of the net. Sewickley moves to 4-1-1 overall with the tie.
