Middle School Student Wins First Place in Pennsylvania at the National History Day Competition
Grade 8 student Roshni Thakkar won first place in the Junior Individual Website Category of the National History Day (NHD) Competition for Pennsylvania. Her project was called “Nelson Mandela: A Conflicting Journey to Justice.”
Grade 8 students have been engaging their hearts, minds, and hands in the service of a greater good during their year-long humanities work. On Monday, May 21, they presented their culminating capstone project – The Museum of Citizen Action – to the entire Sewickley Academy community.
SA Inducts Twelve New Members into the Cum Laude Society
On May 21, 2018, Sewickley Academy’s Senior School gathered in Rea Auditorium to honor the academic, athletic, and artistic achievements of students during the annual Awards Ceremony which included an induction presentation for the newest members of the Cum Laude Society.
On a beautiful day at the par 72 Blackhawk golf course five of our guys qualified for the WPIAL Individual Championships, and a sixth player missed by one stroke, shooting an 80. The target score was 79 as 5 SA and 2 QV players qualified from the section. It was a meaningful experience for all six of our players as it an unusual setting to have to worry about a target score.
