Middle School Student Wins First Place in Pennsylvania at the National History Day Competition
Grade 8 student Roshni Thakkar won first place in the Junior Individual Website Category of the National History Day (NHD) Competition for Pennsylvania. Her project was called “Nelson Mandela: A Conflicting Journey to Justice.”
Grade 8 students have been engaging their hearts, minds, and hands in the service of a greater good during their year-long humanities work. On Monday, May 21, they presented their culminating capstone project – The Museum of Citizen Action – to the entire Sewickley Academy community.
SA Inducts Twelve New Members into the Cum Laude Society
On May 21, 2018, Sewickley Academy’s Senior School gathered in Rea Auditorium to honor the academic, athletic, and artistic achievements of students during the annual Awards Ceremony which included an induction presentation for the newest members of the Cum Laude Society.
Last years WPIAL championship match between Sewickley Academy and North Catholic was renewed this year as an early season matchup at Peters High School. Both teams played well early on, however, North Catholic broke through in the match and scored the first goal of the game. The first half ended as both teams had chances but couldn't tally any more goals. The second half saw North Catholic scoring an early second half goal to go up by the score of 2-0. Sewickley Academy couldn't muster any offense and the game ended 2-0 for a North Catholic victory.
