Senior School History Teacher Travels to South Korea for Professional Development
This past July, I traveled to South Korea with a group of American educators with the generous support of the Korean War Legacy Foundation and Sewickley Academy. This professional development connected me to my curriculum and past enrichment, which continually puts me in the learning seat, prepares me to contextualize historical events for students, and sets me up to share global perspectives.
On a cool but beautiful day in Wester PA, Sewickley Academy the defending WPIAL champions and PIAA runner-up in the state last season played Peters Township. The game started off as both teams tried to get the edge. Both teams played evenly until Peters scored a goal about 15 minutes into the game. About 10 minutes later, Peters scored their second goal of the game. The half ended 2-0 Peters. The second half started off by a Peters scoring their third goal of the game. Both teams played evenly, until Sewickley was given a free kicks from about 25 yards out. Alex Gordon scored an incredible goal off the free kick to get Sewickley on the scoreboard. The game ended in a 3-1 win for Peters. Playing a strong defensive game was : Max Reyes, Jackson Coles, John DelVecchio, Adam Brown, Alex Gordon, and Jack Duggan.
