Grade 10 Students Present Research to SA Community

On Thursday, March 30, Grade 10 students in Dr. Zawacky’s honors chemistry classes presented the results of their (library) research in a public poster session.

Students worked in groups of three to research the molecular structure, properties, and use of a biologically important large molecule, and presented their work by explaining to other students, faculty, staff, and visiting parents what they had learned using a poster and a paper that they had prepared, and answering questions asked by those who came to the event.

This year’s students presented work on these molecules:  ascorbic acid (vitamin C), retinal/retinoic acid (vitamin A), TNT, cinnamaldehyde (cinnamon flavoring), caffeine, morphine, ibuprofen, cholesterol, and L-tryptophan (one of the essential amino acids).

Great job!
