On February 25, five members of the Sewickley Academy Speech and Debate team – sophomores James Grosz and Saarang Mulukutla, seniors Katie Malus and Priya Rajawat, and freshman Luke Tyson – competed against 17 schools from District 2 in the qualifying tournament of the Pennsylvania High School Speech League at Pine Richland High School.
Priya made it to the final round in Commentary and placed sixth in the district. Luke came in third in the qualifying Senate and qualified to represent District 2 at the state tournament on March 17 and 18 at Bloomsburg University.
Additionally, on March 4, Luke, Katie, and Priya competed against 20 schools in the National Tournament of the Catholic Forensic League. Luke placed fifth in Senate and will on go to compete in May in Louisville, Kentucky.
