Coach's Comments
Focus, led by our seniors during our two week layoff between games, propelled us to an outstanding first quarter, outscoring Jeannette 26 - 11, with senior Declan Hickton knocking down two early 3 pointers, sophomore Nate Ridgeway registering 6 points early, and senior Teddy McLain taking a charge and making a beautiful assist to end the first quarter. Freshman Isaiah Smith scored 14 of his 16 points in the first half as we continued our fine play in the second quarter. Junior Dave Groetsch kept the offense rolling with excellent passing.
In the third quarter senior Chris Groetsch registered 15 of his game high 21 points to help put the game away and freshman Isiah Warfield contributed 6 of his 8 points as SA put up 28 points in the third quarter. Senior Justin Pryor, though saddled with foul trouble through out the game led us in rebounding with 5.
Team defense was also a hallmark for the game as we held the Jayhawks 12 points below their average. Preparation in practice by our second team made a huge difference for our team.
