Middle School Student Wins First Place in Pennsylvania at the National History Day Competition
Grade 8 student Roshni Thakkar won first place in the Junior Individual Website Category of the National History Day (NHD) Competition for Pennsylvania. Her project was called “Nelson Mandela: A Conflicting Journey to Justice.”
Grade 8 students have been engaging their hearts, minds, and hands in the service of a greater good during their year-long humanities work. On Monday, May 21, they presented their culminating capstone project – The Museum of Citizen Action – to the entire Sewickley Academy community.
SA Inducts Twelve New Members into the Cum Laude Society
On May 21, 2018, Sewickley Academy’s Senior School gathered in Rea Auditorium to honor the academic, athletic, and artistic achievements of students during the annual Awards Ceremony which included an induction presentation for the newest members of the Cum Laude Society.
In 2004, a strategic plan was developed that included input from 700 members of the Academy community. Centered on these strategic goals, the PICTURE THIS Campaign was launched in 2007 as the most ambitious fundraising effort in school history. The campaign, chaired by Nancy Means '72, Jeffrey Lenchner '77, and Amy Simmons Sebastian '80 added $15 million to the school's endowment - funding many innovative projects that enhanced the educational experience for all students.
