Sewickley Academy Expands Scholarships to Beaver County Students

SEWICKLEY, PA – Sewickley Academy, Pittsburgh's oldest PreK - Grade 12 co-educational, college-preparatory and independent day school, is expanding academic opportunities to students in Beaver County by launching the “For the Future Fund” scholarship program. The school is partnering with athletic and business legend Robert “Rocky” Washington to select students from his alma mater, Beaver Falls High School, for the first round of scholarship recipients.
The scholarship will provide for up to 90% of total tuition as well as transportation to and from Sewickley Academy each school day. It is applicable to students throughout Beaver County starting in Grade 6.

“One of our goals at Sewickley Academy is to increase access so that more students have the opportunity to benefit from our solid set of core values, academic excellence, and advantages in athletics and the arts,” said Dave Fortna, Director of Enrollment Management at Sewickley Academy. “To that end, we are focused on a strategic direction for both enrollment and financial aid. The For the Future Fund is a brand new scholarship program that will help us to share our wealth of opportunities with our neighbors to the north and west.”

“My goal is to reach the core of the disenfranchised kids in Beaver County and provide an opportunity for them to practice mental gymnastics,” said Rocky Washington. “This exercise is central to their aspirations and clairvoyance into the future. With Sewickley Academy being firmly committed to a standard of excellence, it will be the effervescent bridge that bridges these opportunities together.”

With Mr. Washington’s support, Sewickley Academy is establishing a genuine connection to the region and further developing relationships with all fourteen school districts in Beaver County. The For the Future Fund scholarships are funded by many generous Academy donors. To support the For the Future Fund, contact the Academy’s Advancement Office at advancement@sewickley.org.
