International Thespian Society

Sewickley Academy is proud to congratulate four seniors – Mira Bhatia, Connery Brown, Catherine Cable, Eirnin Mahoney – who are graduating as Honor Thespians through the International Thespian Society (ITS).

Since starting the troupe last year, these students have earned points for their theatrical endeavors, and are each recognized as an Honor Thespian – Mira is an 8 Star Honor Thespian, Catherine and Eirnin are both 7 Star Honor Thespians, and Connery is an Honor Thespian.

“Without theatre, I wouldn't be who I am today. Each character I have been given the opportunity to portray has given me a deeper understanding of myself as well as important and relevant issues. Through every character, I've been able to grow along with their development. The process of producing a show is a fascinating and rewarding journey. Getting to the final production/performance of the show requires a lot of work, though,” Mira said. “The ITS program has allowed me to demonstrate my passion and display how much musical theatre means to me. Theatre has helped me navigate difficult situations, allowed me to express all my emotions, and has helped me to understand more about myself. I hope that I gave back in some ways to something that has given me so much, and I want to continue to do so in the future.”

“I joined the International Thespian Society because I’ve always enjoyed being involved with theatre, and this was a great chance to make my achievements more concrete,” Eirnin said. “The recognition from ITS is quite nice, but the experience of being part of a cast and producing a show together is the important part to me. I especially enjoyed playing the Rabbi in this year’s production of Fiddler on the Roof. I really felt like I bonded with my castmates and became part of a little theatre family.”

ITS is an internationally recognized organization that has been honoring student achievement in theatre since 1929.

Congratulations, Seniors!
