Alumna Donates Masks to Sewickley Academy, Other Local Schools and Local Organizations

Elizabeth “Betsy” (Wiegand ’91) Wentz teamed up with Jason Leviere of Santom Upholstery in Ross Township to produce masks for local businesses in an effort to do their part to contribute and help support those who need protective equipment. Betsy, owner of Betsy Wentz Interior Design in Sewickley, purchased the fabric from Thibaut Fabrics and Santom Upholstery provided the labor.

“When all of this began, it occurred to me that we had access to fabric so I partnered with Santom Upholstery, a local upholsterer, to physically make the masks. It just seemed like one small way we could help out during this very difficult time,” Betsy said.

The duo has produced 500 masks and has supplied several dozen to Sewickley Academy, Quaker Valley School District, local restaurants, military personnel, funeral workers, and grocery stores including Safran’s.

In a press release, the team states, “We encourage anyone in our community who needs mask to reach out to us via Instagram and if we have stock, we will deliver. If anyone would like to make masks, we are happy to send you an email with the template we used. We hope everyone stays safe and well and the masks are put to good use!”

Thank you, Betsy, for your continued contributions to our community!
