Spring Season Cancelled
Track athletes,
Last week, Gov. Tom Wolf announced the end to the school year across the state, meaning an end to the winter championships and the entire spring sports season. Speaking for myself and Coach Riddle & Coach Oliver, we had an idea that this could be a reality but held out hope we could get back to having a season. Unfortunately but understandably, this was not the case.
First, I would like to thank our seniors for their contributions to the track team over the years. Nick Joseph, Ben Madison, Samuel Rampelt, and Robin Wang have all been integral members on the team for a number of years and their presence will be missed next season.
Even though we will not be having any organized practices this season, there are still plenty of ways for you to stay fit and work on your athleticism. Coach Ivan White is offering a Zoom program for students on Tuesdays and Thursdays over a 45 min time frame. For novice or beginners, the time will be 3:20-4:05 pm and for advanced or experienced athletes, the time will be 4:20-5:05 pm. If you are interested, Mr. Palmer has emailed a link for you to connect to the Zoom session. If you cannot find this email, please email me and I can get it to you. If you would like to do something more individual, I have been using the Nike Training app and they have unlocked all their premium workouts. It is extremely easy to use and doesn't require weights (however, there are workouts you can do with weights if you have access to some).
The gear that we ordered before going on break also arrived a couple of weeks ago so we will be distributing that in a manner laid out shortly.
Lastly, we will be having a Zoom conference with Donato, the sports psychologist, on Monday at 3 pm. Mr. Palmer has already shared the link with you so please sign up. It will be a great chance to see everyone and reconnect after so much time apart.
I hope that you are staying safe, healthy, and active during this mandate. See everyone soon!
