Varsity Girls Tennis Captures PIAA Championship
Congratulations to the Panthers for winning the girls tennis state championship for two consecutive years!
Sewickley Academy's varsity girls tennis team captured the PIAA Class AA state title at the Hershey Racquet Club by defeating Knoch 3 - 0 Saturday evening.
Junior Evelyn Safar clinched the championship point by defeating her opponent 6-1, 6-4. Earlier the No. 1 doubles team of juniors Victoria Keller and Emma DiSantis won their match 6-1, 7-5 and the No. 2 doubles team of junior Eleena Purewal and sophomore Milla Ivanova won their match 6-1, 6-0. The matches at No. 2 and No. 3 singles were most competitive and were pulled when the Panthers won the championship.
