What do you enjoy most about teaching?
My interactions with the students. Because PK-Grade 12 is all on one campus, I’m able to watch my students grow and develop and mature through the years. Although I’m the teacher, I learn so much from my students. They teach me.
What are your favorite moments with a student?
My favorite moments are when students get excited about their ideas for a piece or project. Also, I love when we are able to do Raku firing, which is a Japanese firing technique that creates a very unique finish.
What traits do you look for in your “ideal” student?
Self motivation, creativity, and the ability to take his or her ideas and make them into something.
How do you help student learn to learn?
I am definitely not one to spoon-feed or hand-hold. I allow students to be themselves and come up with their own ideas.
