Grade 1

The Grade 1 physical education program builds on the basic skills learned during the Early Childhood program. Children begin to engage in basic cooperative games, and focus on skill building, including throwing and catching balls, basic tumbling, and agility skills.

Objectives:

Student will:
  • acquire a positive lifelong attitude towards physical activity and its benefits
  • develop physically, socially, and mentally
  • strive to perform to the best of their abilities
  • acquire age-appropriate fundamental skills, understanding of rules and strategy,     and an appreciation of sports citizenship and cooperation

  • Locomotor Skills (jumping, hopping, galloping, skipping, running)
  • Object Control Skills (throw, kick, punt, bounce, catch)
  • Use of locomotor and object control skills in sports

  • Other Activities: Parachute, Hula Hoops, Bean Bags, Stations, Perceptual Motor       Rhythm Games, Balancing, Obstacle Courses
