Grades:
7 - 12
Dates:
August 8 – 12
Time: 9:00am – 12:00pm
Fee: $225.00

This course is for tweens and teens who are interested in learning how to start or further their family history research. Students will practice the following research skills: creating a research plan, locating information, citing sources, and presenting research findings. Students will access and search common subscription databases available at the Hansen Library. Students should bring their own laptop, Macbook, or Chromebook, or use one of the library’s loaners while on campus. Upon registration, families will receive information to help best prepare students for the course.

Additional Information:
Genealogy is the study of our ancestors, or relatives who are no longer with us. Due to privacy laws, students are unable to research living relatives. If participants only have information for living relatives, they will need help from their families to go back further into their tree. If families are interested, but concerned about their abilities to go back due to lack of record keeping, knowledge, or recent immigration (international online records are limited), participants can study a famous person's genealogy.
