~Sarah, Grades 7 and 9 Parent

"The night before Virtual School, we were not sure what to expect. Thankfully, in the beginning of this new learning approach, the Sewickley teachers started slow, and provided time for the students to get climatized to their new learning situation. Although, the children were well-versed in using My Sewickley as a primary vehicle for communication, they also had to learn to depend/learn other formats (such as Zoom, Google classroom, Google meet, Educreations) and adapt to this new style of learning.

"Virtual School has been a positive experience in our home, and is the only reason why my children get up in the mornings! I am thankful they have a school to help structure and challenge their days. Virtual School has forced my children to be more responsible for their own learning: collaborating with peers, attending meetings, participating in virtual classes, organizing their own schedule/time in the day, and handing in assignments/assessments on time.

Academically, the assignments are well thought out. I am impressed with the level of course-specific feedback the students are receiving from their individual teachers on their assignments. On a social level, the teachers are actively providing opportunities for Middle School students to engage on-line (for example, advisory meetings, club meetings, lunch hour meetings, etc.). The teachers are going beyond just academics and really trying to connect
with all students.

Teachers and students have been stretched with their new learning environments. It has been a challenging time, but I am pleased at how Sewickley Academy has risen to the challenge. I am thankful for the way Sewickley Academy has helped to navigate our children through these unprecedented times."
