Our sun is widely known to be a potential source of alternative energy, but many are unaware of the incredible research being done to understand how our host star was born and how it continues to change. Studying the sun requires a variety of methods of inquiry that include tracking sunspots and measuring insolation on the Antarctic ice sheets. Collectively, these investigations provide us a better understanding of the Earth-Sun system and stars in general.
