Students are assigned to a new advisor each year in Middle School. The advisor is a teacher on the grade level team who oversees a group of 8-13 students in advisory. The advisor gets to know your student well over the course of the year and is generally the first person you’ll meet on the team at the Back to School/student/parent conference. Advisors function as the point person should your student, or you, need to communicate broadly with the team. Advisors also run our morning meeting on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The meeting format is a Circle of Power and Respect (CPR). In keeping with our commitment to social and emotional learning, advisory meetings are designed for activities or discussions on topics outside of any one academic class. These topics and activities can include our roles in a community of respect, talking about academic integrity, responding to a speaker or special event, and fun or even silly community-building activities.
