Sewickley Academy first opened its doors nearly 175 years ago. Since then, the world has changed and so has the school. Many of our traditions and values remain constant, but how we define the school in the context of an ever-changing world is critical to long-term sustainability. Clearly defining who we are and what we stand for is the foundation on which enrollment, philanthropy, and community is strengthened. Sewickley Academy’s brand resides within the hearts and minds of students, faculty, staff, families, alumni, and prospects. It is the sum total of their experiences and perceptions.
Engaging all members of our community in a process to achieve a coherent and inclusive brand, and one that can be quickly and succinctly articulated by anyone in the community, would go a long way to enhancing our ability to recruit and retain students, to making the case for philanthropic support, and to building a stronger sense of community – the pillars of a sustainable school. This process will differentiate Sewickley Academy from its competitors and will ultimately be rooted in the promise of our mission.
