Student Led Fundraiser to Benefit International Child Art Foundation

Junior Lilian Traviato will be hosting a fundraiser on December 18 from 4 - 6 pm in Gregg Theater to benefit the International Child Art Foundation (ICAF).

Free and open to the public.

The event will feature children's artwork for sale. Each piece is a 20 x 26 inch work by a child from a different country. The Foundation will use the money raised to organize its 5th Arts Olympiad, a free program, in Philadelphia schools, and to help children stage their 5th World Children's Festival in the National Mall in Washington, D.C. on July 2 - 4, 2015.

Lilian has always had an interest in art. Her mother, grandmother, and great grandmother are all artists and art teachers, so she was exposed to the lack of funding in arts education from an early age.

When asked how she came up with the idea to raise money for ICAF, Lilian said,

It was in taking a course called Global Issues that I first came up with the idea for this fundraiser. Our final project involved creating a global have witnessed my mother and grandmother struggle with the lack of funding it receives for my whole life.

She researched different organizations until she found one that she could work with. ICAF was willing to send her lithographs of children's works from all around the world to sell, so they seemed like the best choice.
