Goal 3: Sustainability and Branding

Sewickley Academy first opened its doors nearly 175 years ago. Since then, the world has changed and so has the school. Many of our traditions and values remain constant, but how we define the school in the context of an ever-changing world is critical to long-term sustainability. Clearly defining who we are and what we stand for is the foundation on which enrollment, philanthropy, and community is strengthened. Sewickley Academy’s brand resides within the hearts and minds of students, faculty, staff, families, alumni, and prospects. It is the sum total of their experiences and perceptions.

Engaging all members of our community in a process to achieve a coherent and inclusive brand, and one that can be quickly and succinctly articulated by anyone in the community, would go a long way to enhancing our ability to recruit and retain students, to making the case for philanthropic support, and to building a stronger sense of community – the pillars of a sustainable school. This process will differentiate Sewickley Academy from its competitors and will ultimately be rooted in the promise of our mission.

  • Objective A

    Articulate Sewickley Academy’s unique identity and develop a related plan to improve marketing.

    OUTCOME: Stakeholders will be able to communicate what makes the Academy unique and the school will have a marketing plan with clear messaging.
  • Objective B

    Evaluate the most appropriate long-term sustainable enrollment target for the school.

    OUTCOME: The school’s size will be sustainable over time and any changes to the size will be the result of planning and forethought.
  • Objective C

    Ensure the excellence of the Academy’s physical plant and technology infrastructure to meet the needs of our outstanding educational programs.

    OUTCOME: Sewickley Academy will have the technological and physical plant infrastructure and personnel to support and sustain the educational, communications, and marketing goals of the school.
  • Objective D

    Develop a financial/fundraising plan to support the goals and objectives of the Strategic Plan.

    OUTCOME: Sewickley Academy will have the resources to fulfill its mission and perform in a fiscally prudent manner.
