Sewickley Academy Receives Sharing Knowledge Grant from Westfield Insurance

Senior School Technology Coordinator Cristy McCloskey received notice that her Sharing Knowledge Grant proposal for library and media resources has been approved by Westfield Insurance.

McCloskey submitted the proposal for funds for the new makerspace in Hansen Library in early June, and found out it was approved last Friday, August 19. The grant is for $1,500.

“I was very excited to hear the proposal was accepted. While there are plenty of materials and tools we purchased for the new makerspace, this money may be used for something we might not have thought of when we were budgeting, or for something that has recently come on the market that may prove useful in the space,” she said. “We may even be able to help fund a particular project that a teacher is interested in doing with his/her students in the makerspace. This money opens up new possibilities for our teachers as well as the Academy’s makerspace.”

Westfield Insurance sponsors KDKA’s Hometown High-Q, the game show that the Sewickley Academy team placed in the top nine this past school year. McCloskey is the team sponsor.
