SA Varsity Boys Soccer Team Claims PIAA Class A Title
Sewickley Academy defeated East Juniata 3-0 in the state championship title game on Friday night at Hersheypark Stadium in its unprecedented fourth consecutive PIAA Class A final.
The game was scoreless until the 23:38 mark in the first half, when Brennan Doyle scored the first goal. Tommy Lasorda scored for the Panthers with 4:43 left in the half, setting the team up for a 2-0 lead at halftime. Within minutes of the second half, Matt Teitelbaum scored the third and final goal of the game. Goalkeeper Jackson O’Neill had two saves for the Panthers.
This is the second time in three seasons the Panthers earned the Class A championship trophy. They also won the gold in 2013.
