Students Win Scholastic Writing Awards

Two Senior School students received high honors in the 2015 Pittsburgh Regional Scholastic Writing competition, a program sponsored by the Western Pennsylvania Writing Project.

Junior Kate Busatto earned two Gold Keys for her two poetry collections. The Gold Key is the highest award given in the regional Scholastic Writing competition. Both of her collections will advance to the
National Scholastic Writing Awards competition. In addition, her flash fiction piece, Among the Stars, earned a Silver Key.

Freshman Veronica Coleman earned a Silver Key in the personal essay/memoir category for her piece, A Warrior’s Gaze.

Their work was selected for honors out of more than 300 regional entries, spanning 10 different genres of writing.

Pittsburgh Regional Scholastic Writing Awards will be distributed at the Regional Writing Awards Ceremony on February 28, 2015, at the Frick Fine Arts Auditorium on the University of Pittsburgh campus.

Congratulations, Kate and Veronica!
