Attack Theatre Joins SA as Artists in Residence
Attack Theatre will join forces with Sewickley Academy as Artists in Residence this January. Attack is an innovative company that combines modern dance, art, music, and multimedia to create an unforgettable experience.
On Tuesday, Jan. 6th, from 8:30-9:15 am, Attack will be presenting Leap Into Action for the Lower School. Then on Wednesday, Jan. 14th, from 8:30-9:30 am, Attack will be presenting Traveling for the Middle School.
SA dance teacher, Joe Jackson, was instrumental in bringing Attack to the Academy along with support from the SA Home and School Association’s Grants for Innovative Frameworks in Teaching (G.I.F.T.) Program. Attack Theatre will be conducting the majority of Mr. Jackson’s classes while he takes on the role of Freddy in Pittsburgh Public Theater’s production of My Fair Lady. The company will be interacting with students in all three divisions throughout most of January, including workshops, classes, and performances, which will offer students an innovative experience.
Attack Theatre took its name from a philosophy that believes art can be brought to the audience. Street corners, cathedrals, backyards, storefront windows and bridges became the company's stage. The company is respected for its willingness to go to the audience and "attack" each performance with a remarkable intensity. At times witty and poignant, and at times tragic and introspective, Attack Theatre's performances are always engaging.
Attack Theatre is a Pittsburgh Filmmakers/Pittsburgh Center for the Arts School & Community Programs Artist Residency Project in Partnership with the PA Council on the Arts.
