Sewickley Academy is excited to announce that Melinda Miller will be the school’s new director of advancement beginning August 20, 2012. As the director of advancement, Melinda will lead the school’s advancement efforts including development and fundraising, communications and marketing, special events, and alumni relations.
A seasoned advancement professional, Melinda has worked as the senior director of marketing and communications at Grove City College and as the director of communications at Shady Side Academy. Her experience includes supporting the development of Grove City’s recent $90 million capital campaign, as well as grant-writing.
"With experience both in independent schools and at the university level, Melinda brings to her new position a wealth of knowledge and an understanding of educational culture," says Head of School Kolia O’Connor. "References describe her as intensely ethical and passionately hard working, remarking that Melinda has devoted herself to making a difference in the lives of others through her support of the organization’s mission."
Melinda comments, "I’ve always had tremendous respect for Sewickley Academy, as it is truly a premier independent school, offering an amazing depth and breadth of education for students. It’s a profound privilege to be joining the advancement team, especially as the school approaches its 175th Anniversary."
Melinda is a graduate of SUNY Albany where she received a bachelor’s in philosophy. She also earned a master’s in philosophy from Boston College.
