Meet the Summerbridge Pittsburgh Team

Bill joined the Summerbridge staff from the Kinkaid School in Houston, Texas, where he worked as a science teacher since 1996. For eight years, Bill served as the assistant director of the Kinkaid/Houston Independent School District Engineering-Math-Science Institute, a program that brings minority students from Houston public schools to the Kinkaid campus for intense summer instruction in math and science. His teaching career also includes three years at the Asheville School in North Carolina. Fluent in Spanish, Bill acted as a liaison for a Montana-based organization involved in the construction of a church/family development center in Nayarit, Mexico. Bill also worked as a fisheries biologist for the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service in Alaska. Bill earned a bachelor's degree in biology from the Pennsylvania State University and a master's degree in zoology from the University of Montana.

Sarah Bachner

Sarah Bachner comes to Summerbridge Pittsburgh with a bachelor's degree in communication from Saint Vincent College and is currently pursuing her master's at Duquesne University in conflict resolution and peace studies. Most recently, Sarah worked as an education outreach specialist for Global Solutions Pittsburgh and as an admissions representative for Wheeling Jesuit University. Summerbridge Pittsburgh holds a very special place in her heart, as Sarah is an alumna from the second graduating class of the program! In her spare time, Sarah loves to read, sing, study foreign languages, and cook.
